Pollution particles ‘get into brain’

highlights the concern raised by a recent study that sub 200 nanometer iron pollution particles seem to be going directly from the  nose into the brain.

“But nanoscale particles of magnetite are believed to be small enough to pass from the nose into the olfactory bulb and then via the nervous system into the frontal cortex of the brain.”

More research is needed to prove the particles found can cause disease, but as the researchers said, it’s “dreadfully shocking.”
